Located in Robertsbridge, East Sussex, England and built in 1385, Bodiam Castle is one of the most famous and evocative castles in Britain. It was built in the 14th century as both a defence and a comfortable home. Set in a dramatic, watery landscape, the castle has been restored throughout the years after being partially dismantled by parliament in order to repay the owner's debts. It was donated to the National Trust in 1925 and is now a popular visitor attraction.

This hand-crafted fine bone china cup started its journey in the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, England, one of Great Britain’s last remaining craft industries, using traditional methods which have remained unchanged for generations. Fine bone china is translucent, pure white in colour and is stronger and more chip-resistant than earthenware china. It has been made in Stoke-on-Trent since the 1790’s by famous pottery houses such as Spode, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, and Duchess China. Each ceramic mug takes 7 days to make; it is cast in a mould and is finished by hand by highly skilled glazers and lithographers.
Bone china has a long history in the English countryside and lends itself as the perfect canvas to Alison’s illustrations, ensuring rich and beautiful colours on every cup. The delicate and smooth characteristics of bone china is even said to improve the taste of your favourite tea or coffee.
